Lock SpringsSpring has an imperative role in the development and working of a lock. This spring that is used in a lock can be made from iron or steel. The mechanism of a lock is not completed without a spring. The coils of metal have life and energy. In history also, springs were used and played a key role in the function of locks. A number of springs were used in different locks, Roman locks, pad locks, pin timber locks, door locks and chest locks. Those springs were made from cold hammered iron and were quite heavy. Different kinds of lock springs developed from about 200 AD till 19th century are simple plate spring, ward spring, V-shaped plate spring, tumbler with plate spring, torque spring, compression spring and tension spring.
